I spotted this ring billed gull trying to eat a fish on the beach at Fort Desoto. It took him a long time. He kept dropping it and picking it back up. He finally got it down and flew away. Ring billed gulls are winter residents. We rarely see them here in the summer.

The fish looked a little bit bigger than the detritus he’s used to eating, I guess.
Well he got there in the end!
I have seen gulls exhibiting this same behavior. Great shots!
We take our hands for granted, don’t we?
What great pictures. I’m glad he got it down eventually. 🙂
Lunch is taken care of.
Worth a Thousand Words
Great series on the gull, glad the fish went down well.
Lucky there was no one else around to steal his lunch.
Great series.
Great series – looks like he bit off more than he could chew, though!
Great series – although it looks like this guy bit off more than he could chew!

Wonderful moment captured!
Great pictures! Silly gull–maybe he wasn’t too hungry but didn’t want to lose his morsel to someone else.
