Life on the dock.

I was back out on the dock at Chesnut Park in mid-May looking for the baby purple gallinules. At first I just saw the adults above. Both parents were running around the big spadderdock leaves looking for food.

I finally got a quick glance of the little black fuzzballs but they were far away and kept hiding under the big leaves.

A juvenile little blue heron was also creeping around in the muck looking for food.

A male wood duck flies in.

There are lots of turtle hanging around under the dock.

Becoming friends.

Blooming along the boardwalk.

  1. The purple gallinule is wonderful. I love the name and the way the bird looks. I have never heard of such a bird until your post of the other day.

I also love the name spadderdock.

    Hello,

I love all the birds and critter photos. A favorite is the capture of the friends, the little gator and the turtle. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
