After briefly seeing a hummingbird moth at the Botanical Gardens in Largo, I went back the next week to see if I could find it again. This time there were several in the butterfly garden. They are amazing creatures, almost fairytale like. Before seeing them here this spring, I had only seen them once before so they are not common. I took a lot of pictures and couldn’t decide on just one or two so I posted my favorites.
Gosh! What a beauty. Never seen a moth like a hummingbird moth! Quite an enchantress and like you rightly said, they have this very fairy like feel to them. I can almost see the pixies and elves prance around the bushes. :))
Glad to have stumbled upon your blog, Diana. I’m a wildlife enthusiast and nature lover too.

We have hummingbird moths here, too, but yours are more brilliantly colored!

Well it must be that time of year! I just returned to Colt Creek State Park where I found them last year to hunt for one and was successful.
Your photographs are exquisite!
What a uniquely beautiful creature.
What a delightful surprise! I’m glad you went back for more photos. Hopefully, it won’t be the last time you get to see this beauty!
It’s great to see you at ‘My Corner of the World this week! Thanks for linking up with us.
Beautiful, moth and photos both!
