The faces they make are priceless. This was my last visit to see the baby great horned owls at Fort Desoto. They were almost fully grown when I was there. Sleeping most of the time. Mom was close by keeping one eye on them. It wasn’t long after my visit that I heard they were already moving around from tree to tree. By now they are long gone and the parents are empty nesters once again

They are so adorable the way they snuggle so closely together, and struggle to keep their heavy eyelids open. The next to last photo of the yawn with the little arched tongue is so precious.
