The ferry ride from Boston harbor to Salem was a lot of fun. Beautiful houses along the shore and you could see the Boston skyline almost all the way there.
We were hoping to see a lot of yellow and red trees on this trip but we were a little early. Only a few yellow trees.
We got to tour an old ship that was being renovated in the Salem harbor.
We found a black squirrel just outside of the cemetery and these pretty dogwood trees were still in bloom.
Lots of things were blooming at my sister’s house in north Birmingham when I was visiting over Easter weekend. A bad storm hit the day before I arrived and when the sun came out over the weekend, everything started blooming quickly.
She had orchids blooming in the kitchen.
A fire in the old pot-bellied stove kept us warm while we watched the full moon rise out in the backyard.

My sister and her husband have spent a lot of time working in their back yard. We were there in late March and the spring blooms were just starting to come out. Their yard looks like a botanical gardens, with flowers, bushes, benches, bird feeders, bird houses and two fish ponds. The thing I noticed the most was the dogwood trees. We don’t have them here in central Florida and I hadn’t seen any during my quick trip to Birmingham. She had several in her yard and it made me think of my Mom.
