The streets of Salem

The first house you see when you are leaving the Salem harbor. Very eclectic.

One of the first stores you see walking down the main street in Salem. We stopped in on the way back to the ferry and got some sweets to take back to the hotel.

Lots of old houses in Salem. Many of them had plaques that dated the houses back to the late 1600’s to the late 1700’s. The town was very pretty and clean. It was easy to walk around and we were lucky with the weather.

This old house was just starting to be renovated. It looked like it could have collapsed with a good wind.

Heading into Salem

The ferry ride from Boston harbor to Salem was a lot of fun. Beautiful houses along the shore and you could see the Boston skyline almost all the way there.

We were hoping to see a lot of yellow and red trees on this trip but we were a little early. Only a few yellow trees.

We got to tour an old ship that was being renovated in the Salem harbor.

We found a black squirrel just outside of the cemetery and these pretty dogwood trees were still in bloom.

Salem for Halloween

What’s more fun that spending a day in Salem right before Halloween? Brett and I were in Boston for vacation two weeks ago and took the ferry over to Salem for a day. It was our first trip to New England and the weather was perfect. We went on a Wednesday and it was quiet. I had heard the weekends at night were crazy packed. It was a small quaint town and was easy to walk around

Many of the alley ways were decorated.

A few of the markers at the Witch Trail Memorial gardens. There were twenty benches in all marking each name of the victims. Someone had come before me and laid flowers on each bench.

One of the cemeteries in Salem, this one was opened in 1637 and is one of the oldest in the country. Most of the information engraved on the headstones were so worn down that you couldn’t read them.

Brett and I spent 5 days in Boston so I’m going to be boring you with my vacation shots. I took a ton of pictures.
