From my trip to the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo in mid-June.
I just realized they have a rainbow eucalyptus tree here. I have never noticed it before. Maybe it just recently started showing it’s colors. As the bark peels off, different shades come through.They are not native here but grow well in rain forests.

In the butterfly house, we got to see some butterflies emerging before they had started flying.
Zooming in across the street from the gardens, it looked like someone was clearing a field.Probably another subdivision going up.
We spent a hot morning walking around the Naples Botanical Gardens during our trip in late April. So many bright colors.
Even in January there is lots of color in central Florida. Found the above at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo.
The usual birds. Carolina wrens have been singing away for weeks now.
This little squirrel was too cute, chowing on these pink seed pods over my head.
It’s always fun to watch the wild parakeets eating high up in the trees. They are so loud that it’s easy to spot them.

As I was walking around the Largo Botanical Gardens thinking it was a slow quiet morning with not much to take pictures of, a flock of black hooded parakeets flew into the trees right over my head. They ignored me as I watched them preening and flirting. After a few minutes, they took off. That was the highlight of the morning.
Not much else at the gardens. I caught an anhinga sticking his head out of the water and the usual titmouse up in the tree.
Still lots of baby moorhens in July.

Pictures from a walk around the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo during a morning summer rain shower. Most people say the rain never lasts long in Florida in the summer but sometimes they last most of the day. This morning in August it rained all day. At least it wasn’t hot.

I headed out to the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo in early August around 8am. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky in Tampa. As I got closer to the gardens I could see the dark clouds up ahead. I was thinking it would be a quick rain shower and then it would nice and cool to walk around after the rain. I sat in my car for over 30 minutes in the down pour. It finally slowed down to a drizzle. I got out of the car with my big golf umbrella and walked around the gardens taking pictures in the drizzle. At least it wasn’t hot.
