Wading birds at Fort Desoto


Tricolored heron fishing.


Snowy egret looking at himself.


The snowy egret was following a spoonbill around. I think he was watching to see what the spoonbill’s feet would stir up.


Then the spoonbill looks over at me.


He’s still keeping an eye on me as he’s feeding.


Upclose. It’s weird the way you can see his ear.

  1. Amazing photos! Amazed at the pink colouring of the spoonbill + that ear! Hints of flamingo pink! But the first photo is my favourite with those magical, subtle variation of colours in the heron’s feathers!

  2. Great pictures. Emus have huge holes in the side of their heads for their ears – I cant help but think of flies wandering inside! Same with this picture!
