Big Red, the resident reddish egret at Fort Desoto, was putting on a show in late May. There are several reddish egrets that hang out on the beach there but we call them all Big Red. They put their wings up to shade the water so they can see the fish better. When they are chasing the fish around, they look like they are drunk. They’re very entertaining and funny to watch. He was fishing for about 30 minutes and then flew over to some grass and looked like he was ready for a nap.
