Getting a fish skin from a fisherman.
It’s weird how you can see his veins in his pouch. That big fish part was sitting in his pouch for a few minutes.
The pelicans were having a feast. Someone had tossed over some fish parts.
This is the first time I’ve seen this happen. The gulls hover and dive-bomb the pelicans in hopes of getting a lost fish. The pelican had grabbed on to the gull with his beak and was holding on to it.
The gull was not happy to be a prisoner of the pelican. He flapped and screamed for a few seconds. The pelican let him go and the gull was okay.
Pelicans resting on the jetti next to the fishing pier. They all look like young ones.
The bait fish around the fishing pier was really thick the morning I stopped by at Fort Desoto. The water had big black spots all around that were thick schools of these little fish. Pelicans were everywhere. They weren’t even diving for the fish. They were just swimming around scooping up the fish like white pelicans do. The pier was packed with people fishing and boats were coming up close to the pier to get a net full of bait fish. It was a busy morning at the park.
