Fort Desoto birds – Skywatch Friday

Big Red (everyone calls the reddish egrets at Fort Desoto Big Red) was putting on a feeding display.

He was dancing around the shoreline looking for food.

Two ruddy turnstones looking for food in some old seaweed.

I think he found something. This one was limping on his foot. It looked okay but something must be wrong for him to limp and hold it up like that when he’s feeding.

Nice perch for the great blue heron.

    Fabulous shots of these shorebirds!

  7. What a great post – the herons are splendid. I also like seeing birds I see here as well – the turnstones in this case. And the Crane post before is great – the bird versus reptile section is very good!
