Two weekends ago, I walked out in the backyard with my camera to try to get a better shot of the fiddler crabs that had been digging in the sand in our corner of the channel at low tide. I realized as I walked towards the dock that there was a tri-colored heron right in front of our dock. He didn’t fly off when I walked up.
Splash! He was going for a little fish so I sat down on the dock and watched him.
He then flies over right under me and I had to back up.
Another big splash under water.
He danced around while I was sitting there and kept trying for fish. He didn’t seem to mind that I was so close.
He got something when his back was to me but when he came up he was swallowing it. I finally got up and left him to his quiet afternoon of fishing. Hopefully, he’ll keep coming back to visit.

What great shots! He was really intent on trying to catch a meal.
Beautiful!!!
